Router:
For the test weekend, a Micron Client PRO with a PIII pushing 650 MHz will be providing the routing. This box is equipped with 3 NICs and 384mb of memory. This should more then suffice on the hardware side.
The router will be serving Mikrotik's Routing software, version 2.8.22. The combination of hardware and software should prove, as if not more powerful and accurate, then any leading hardware brand of the same caliber.
WiFi - Access Point:
We've got the newest Belkin
802.11 Pre_N router for everyone that
needs the latest, blazing fast, Wifi connection.
The router will be configured as an access point
and will require the user to login via the Mikrotik
router. Even if you don't have Pre_N adapters
on your machines you'll notice the difference.
Switches:
We've got a 16 Dell switches at our disposal. This will allow us to connect way more people to the network then we actually need...call it overkill if you will, but we like it that way.
Game Server:
We've got a Dual Xeon Dell to host the evenings games. It will prove more then strong enough for the beginning games. We are thrilled that we have this resource available to us and can't wait to get it on the network.
